NuWest Recording is a home recording studio dedicated to recording and producing Songwriters demos and solo artists in the Country, Western, Swing/Rockabilly, Blues and Christian genre's. We also specialize in voiceovers and corporate audio.

The studio was created in 1986 with just a four track cassette recorder and a handfull of ouboard gear. What an enormous difference between then and now. Thanks to all the new technology we can keep right up there with the big boys. Of course having plenty of top notch gear helps too.

About Us

NuWest Recording (formerly Desert City Sound Recording) began in 1986 as a way for founder Dave Young to record demos for his band. Studio time was very expensive at the local studios because the equipment was very expensive. Dave was in the US Air Force in 1984 and was stationed in South Korea. There he was able to purchase a four track recorder for a fraction of what they cost in the US.

While he was in Korea he recorded several songs that he had written as well as the two bands he was playing in while in Korea. When he returned to the US in 1985 he couldn't wait to get his studio set up in the home he had purchased just a year before he was sent to Korea.

In 1986 Dave and a friend got together to outline a plan for producing music locally and Desert City Sound Company was born.
